Fall Means ESU Football

If it’s fall, it must be time for football! The Emporia State University Hornets are currently 2-2 in the MIAA Conference with big home games still to come, including Homecoming on November 4.

Tailgating is a tradition that Emporians take seriously. Grab some friends, some food, and your Hornet gear for a day cheering on the home team at Welch Stadium on the ESU campus.

ESU has designated specific parking areas around Welch Stadium, on the north side of campus, for tailgating. A map of those areas can be found on the ESU website. Parking is free on game days.

Arrive early, stake out your spot, grill some meats, and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Or let someone else do the work and reserve a spot at The Watering Hole, a catered tailgating experience. Call the Emporia Chamber of Commerce office at 342-1600 for information and reservations.

ESU does have restrictions regarding the consumption of alcohol, so when planning your day, be sure to visit the ESU website and review those policies.

Before and after the game, enjoy what Downtown Emporia has to offer with Emporia Main Street’s Tailgate and Open Late specials. On game days, stores and restaurants are open early and late, and offer discounts and deals on everything from BBQ to bicycles, coffee to clothing, sweets to shoes.

Stingers up!
