Empovía is a uniquely local approach to a global phenomenon, known as ciclovías. In Spanish, Ciclovía refers to the permanent or temporary closure of a network of streets to cars so that they become open to human-powered movement. Emporia + Ciclovía = Empovía!
The second annual Empovía event will be held on Saturday, October 7th from 8 am - 2 pm. The event will take place at Peter Pan Park.
People of all ages and abilities are invited into a temporarily closed section of streets and can have an opportunity to ride, skate, rollerblade, scoot, walk, jog, and/or run in an environment completely closed to auto traffic. This year will feature a Tianguis open air market. Vendors will be in the street selling homemade crafts, art, food, and more! Other community partners will be present and providing a multitude of activities for all ages. Join us for an opportunity to move, create, and play!
No Pets are allowed at the event.
