“First Class Tribute: The Story of William Allen White’s 3-Cent Stamp and First Day Covers”

Join ESU Special Collections and Archives for a presentation by Professor Darla Mallein, “First Class Tribute: The Story of William Allen White’s 3-Cent Stamp and First Day Covers.” In 1948, the U.S. Postal Service issued a stamp honoring the late Emporia Gazette editor. Mallein will discuss the creation of the stamp and lead attendees in a hands-on activity with first day covers produced to commemorate its release. The event will take place in the Exhibit Hall outside Room 119 of William Allen White Library. Seating is limited to 30.
