Hammond Park

This lush green park across the street from Emporia State University has a playground, tennis courts, shelters, and a 9-hole disc golf course designed by Eric McCabe. Hammond is one of the busier courses in town, especially for beginners. The course is a favorite for local fundraising disc golf tournaments benefiting organizations like the United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Emporia Police Department, and many others. The course received a fair amount of attention when a video went viral of professional disc golfer Eagle McMahon’s roller ace on hole 9. Legend has it, former Emporian and 2018 Disc Golf World Champion Paige Shue (nee Bjerkaas) aced hole 2 and followed it up two holes later with an ace on hole 4!
