Downtown Emporia is the place to be this weekend! Commercial Street from 3rd Avenue to 12th Avenue will be closed to traffic when vendors of all kinds gather at this year’s Great American Market.

What You’ll Find

The secret to the event’s success is that it appeals to a wide range of people, both local and outside the community. A broad selection of food, pop up entertainment, collectibles, crafts, antiques and artwork stretches down nine blocks of Emporia’s main street.

Typical vendors offer jewelry, vintage and custom home décor, antique furniture, baked goods, clothing, collectibles of all kinds, antique tools, new and used military items, camping equipment, survival and tactical gear, garden supplies, purses and accessories, skin care, toys, books, and more. Several non-profit organizations now hold their annual rummage sales at The Great American Market, greatly increasing the selection. Whatever you’re in the market for, you’ll probably find it here.

Stores and restaurants downtown also offer sales and discounts to the thousands of people who come to the Great American Market. From Poehler’s Mercantile Antique Mall to Brown’s Shoe Fit to L&L Pets to Gravel City Adventure Co. to Dynamic Discs, sales abound.

When you’re hungry, try one of the many food vendors at the Market offering authentic Mexican food, fresh-squeezed lemonade, BBQ, grass-fed burgers, creative local cuisine, funnel cakes, kettle corn, and more.

Or stop in Casa Ramos, Ru Yi, or Commercial Street Diner for a meal. Gravel City Roasters and Granada Coffee Co. will serve up your favorite caffeine fix while The Sweet Granada has your sweet tooth covered. One block west on Merchant Street, Radius Brewing offers dining options and Rhinestones & Rust showcases refurbished vintage furniture. Pick up some fresh produce and other local goods at the Farmers Market in the morning, located on 7th Avenue between Commercial and Merchant Streets.

Where to Park & What to Bring

Park on Mechanic Street to the east or Merchant Street to the west (parking is free), then stroll down Commercial Street. Public parking lots are located at 6th Avenue & Mechanic Street, 6th Avenue & Merchant Street, and the 700 block of Merchant Street.

Emporia is usually warm and dry this time of year, but the Market is held rain or shine. Wear good walking shoes and bring a hat or umbrella. Most vendors have sacks available, but it’s a good idea to bring couple of sturdy tote bags to carry your treasures.

The Great American Market is open 7:00am – 4:00pm in Downtown Emporia.
