European Antiques – New Life for Old Treasures

When Linda Goss opened European Antiques at 624 Commercial St in September 2017, area collectors gained access to a different class of furniture and antiques.

Old World Elegance

The curated selection includes wardrobes, Murphy beds, chaise lounges, deacon’s chairs, dressers, dining tables, desks, secretaries and chairs. Built to last with solid wood lovingly tended, as the store’s name suggests, many of pieces are sourced from the United Kingdom and Europe.

In addition to furniture, Linda stocks home décor with a traditional, European elegance. Vintage framed prints, leaded glass lamps, vintage scales, old tools, home decor, crocks, linens, doilies, tapestries, pearl-handled silverware, nesting tables, Persian and Turkish rugs are artfully arranged throughout the store.

European Antiques also boasts a variety of new, collectible glassware, including cobalt blue, green, pink depression, Fire King, Moon and Stars, Bubble Glass and gold and light blue colored glassware.

The building – a former jewelry store – is clean and bright, with ample space to move around. You won’t find cluttered aisles or boxes of junk here! Be sure to check out the nooks and crannies with their clever displays. Friendly staff are ready to help you find the piece you’ve been looking for, or you can simply browse the extensive collection.

Giving Quality Furniture New Life

Bringing new life to old furniture is a passion for Linda. Her storefront is an off-shoot of her long-time profession: upholstering furniture to give it new purpose. Linda formed Redi Upholstery in 2000, specializing in rebuilding and restoring antique furniture from the frame up. She continues this work, in conjunction with owning the shop where upholstery fabric is available by the yard.

Linda sees this as an opportunity to keep old furniture out of our landfills. By adding an arm or a leg, along with some build-up and reupholstery in beautiful fabric, she creates a unique, one-of-a-kind, sturdy piece ready for the rigors of daily use.

European Antiques and Upholstery, 624 Commercial St, is open Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday.
